45 Arete
Description
This is the hardest line on the boulder. For the stand start at V8 pull onto the wall and use tiny right hand sidepull veins to reach a slim slanting edge up and left. Figure out a way to get up and over the bulge to an impossible looking top out on a steep slab with and finish with a path that is independent of the 45 Left problem's finish, preferably.
For full value and 9 points, link the strenuous sit start into what is described above. Groping up to the incut flake at the terminus of the scar which forms the starting hold for the 45 stand up problem is hard on the shoulder, and that is the largest hold on the climb. Getting up into the stand start is difficult as it uses a very thin right hand sidepull crimp and is probably the crux for most folks. Then the top is a mental battle. For full disclosure I have not really come close to doing this problem.
Location
The blunt slight arete formed where the 45 overhang and vertical face meet. It may be helpful to have someone point out the line and the holds.
Protection
Pad and friends to work the problem with so you won't ruin your tips. The crimpiness does not allow many attempts, at least in my case.
