Approach Dome
Description
[Edit]This dome sits below entrance and exit dome! And sure beats the approach to these domes! South East facing and great quality rock! Just a hop skip and jump from the trail! On the main trail after you pass the second wash there is a flat rock to the right of the trail I use this as a staging area. Rack up and start up on the left side of the wash. You don’t need to be in it just on the left side of it. Taking the path of lest resistance up a few switch backs, find your way to the base of a 5-easy slab. Head up the slab keeping right, I find it is easier and a bit more exposed. Once the slab ends at a shelf with some trees you should be seeing the second pitch better then whacking above you. Continue up through one or two more tree filled shelves and then find your way into the wash crossing it and making your way right (east) to the base of the dome.To continue on to exit and entrance domes from the top of approach; from the top head to east side and on the back side look for a wide crack/chimney with a anchor. Rap the anchor and once on the ground take the path of less resistance (east till you see a few cairns for the trail to the base) to the base of exit. On your way back out you can climb this wide crack (5.7 one or two 4’s feels fine ) to get back on top of the dome. You can rap the anchor on the front side of the dome to get back to your bagsI have also installed a rap anchor at the top of the 5-class slab
