Ebola Monkey Wall

The Ebola Monkey Wall encompasses the tall sections of the Eastern face of Wolf Rock.

This area, secluded from most hiking traffic, features the highest walls on Wolf Rock - up to 50' in some places - with hand cracks and offwidths, overhangs and roofs, and slab on the same quartz-streaked rock. A very large boulder sits about 30 feet from the wall at the center of the area.

The area name is a tribute to nearby Fort Detrick, the center of the US biological weapons program from 1943 to 1969 (since the discontinuation of that program, it has hosted most elements of the United States biological defense program).
