Description
[Edit]The Montreal River separates WI from MI in the Western UP flowing from the metropolis of Ironwood/Hurley north into the big lake we call Gitchi Gummi. A crumbling cliff made of red and brown sandstones and mudstones rise up out of the lake to the east of the river and numerous climbs are found on any given year. A frozen Lake Superior is not 100% necessary, but it is the best way to enjoy the ice in this zone, as once you get about a mile east of the river, there is private property on top of every climb...
