Description
This thing is scary but probably not all that different than alot of classic alpine routes with similar choss. Climb slow and test the holds. If you can keep your head you will be rewarded with an amazing position on the steeper headwall.
Pitch beta.
P1- Start just right of the Pete Schoerner memoral plaque and follow easy terrain for 200ft and belay under a small mini roof on gear. 5.6
P2- Continue for another 200ft up easy terrain until stopping before the start of the steeper part of the wall. Gear belay can be found on left side of the slab and approximately 30ft before the start of the steeper wall. Easy 5th/4th
P3- Climb up and right of belay until reaching the steeper wall. Climb back and left aiming for a orange ramp. Take this ramp up and left and belay on gear in a vertical crack situated above a bulge. 5.8 150ft
P4- Locate the roof up and right with a right angling finger/fist crack. Climb up to this to this crack utilizing 3 hook moves at C2 or try freeing it. Either way follow this crack for 15 feet and then back and left utilizing a short offwith. After the offwidth climb up and left to weakness with several cracks for a gear belay. Belay further left on 2-3" gear optional. 5.9 C2 80ft
P5- Climb straight up off belay untill reaching a ledge system heading right. Follow the ledge and belay in a right racing corner. 5.8 150ft
P6- Climb up then left aiming for the large dihedral. Climb a mossy dihedral then pull over the summit and belay at bush. 5.8 180ft.
Descent: From summit hike south towards carson peak. Go over one ridge in about 5 minutes and take this first drainage down. Once the drainage flatens out into bushes take a turn right towards Agnew Lake. Follow talus down towards the swithbacks in the Gem Lake trail below. Once intersecting with these switchbacks hike downhill 2 miles to the parking lot.
