Ape Call

The is the climb directly up the center of The Block above Riverview Ledge. I've led it 30-50 times over the last decade, I'm sure other people have done it, but I don't see it that often.

Great gear. You can do this with a purple, red, and large yellow Camalot and one copper BD nut. Lots of options for additional pieces, but these are the keys. At the top there is a great crack to build your own anchor. You'll need long slings to get back over the edge though.

Start in the center of Riverview Ledge under the overhanging roof. Stick a purple Camalot in the well-worn horizontal crack at the lip of the roof. Start to the left and move up and across the overhanging face, sticking a red Camalot in another horizontal as you move up. Pull up and right around the roof and gain a large ledge at the right side of The Block. Place a small nut at eye level and put a long sling on it. Step way to the left on tiny ledges to gain the black vertical crack splitting the center of The Block. Climb straight up on bomber jugs. Gear everywhere. Have fun!
