Fir Tree Overhang

FA unknown
CREATED
UPDATED

Description

Climb the 5.7 face and surmount the 5.7 overhang just below and right of the small Douglas Fir. Continue up class 4 to a bolted anchor. There are several options for the start, with the hardest being a 5.8 boulder move up the face. The route is easier (5.6) if you climb up the cracks to the left of the face and bypass the overhang by climbing farther to the right.

Location

Descend via rappel from a double bolt anchor with rap rings.

Protection

Cams up to 2". There are only a couple of dubious small cam placements on the face below the overhang. If you move a few feet to the left you can set cams in the obvious crack, where the climbing is easier. The overhang is protected by a medium-sized cam (or two) in a flaring crack beneath the overhang.
