- Edit (TBD)
Description
There are crux moves at the start and finish of this long moderate route offering two potential finish variations.
Location
The start of this route is visible from path which accesses the southeast aspect of Kimball Canyon Crag. This is the third leftmost route on the sunny side of the crag (left side) Scramble up 20+ feet of 4th class on low angled terrain to clip the first of three bolts on a short vertical face with big holds.
This route starts just 20 feet left of two Open Projects which ascend a very obvious steep over-hanging orange and white rock face. These projects each have their own chain lower-off anchors. Each has been ascended to up around the 5th bolt (5.11+.) They each offer fun climbing up to their individual high points.
Above the 5th bolt the angle and steepness of the climbing have thus far prevented a complete ascent and therefore Are Not Included as finished routes on the site
.
Protection
10 Bolts (100 feet!)The left finish (5.10a) is the original line which ends by topping one of the highest points of Kimball Canyon Crag, a true summit tower. There is a pleasant ledge and bolted chain anchor at the top of the summit plateau. The right finish goes through a roof crux (5.10b)and finishes at it's own separate anchor several feet below the true summit and the other anchor. While it is possible to walk off from the top by carefully scrambling down from the summit(exposed!), the anchors are equipped for safe lowering or rappel. Please be careful and tie knots in the rope ends as this is a rope-stretching rappel for a 60 meter rope !
