Counterstrike

FA Todd Swain and Corky Woodring, 1981
CREATED
UPDATED

Description

The start is a bit indistinct, but you should move up and slightly right to a notch with a small tree: there is no protection for the first 20 feet or so but the moves are not hard. Climb through the notch to the obvious wide horizontal and make the strenuous hand traverse right (crux) for about 10 feet. At that point, you can continue straight up to a ledge or move up and traverse straight right to a large tree and rappel.

Note: As of last year, the small tree is now quite a bit bigger and it is difficult to pass.

Location

The start is just right of the obvious chimney/corner of Emilietta. Just past that point the ground slopes steeply downward

Protection

A #3 and a #4 camalot are needed for the traverse.
