Apneic

Description

Apneic ascends a blunt, overhanging arete that finishes up a dihedral slab. The formation is unique for the canyon, the rock quality is outstanding, and the landing is very good.

Stand start with a left hand sidepull and a right hand sidepull with a thumb-catch at the arete, each are about five feet off the ground. From there, slap the right hand up the arete, then bump that same hand again to a tooth on the arete (crux), gain the jugs, work the feet up high and negotiate the remaining dihedral slab (tree branches are off) to reach the topout.

Location

This ascends the northeast arete of Megalomania Block.

Protection

A few pads will do, the landing is very good, but there is a large tree just right of the arete that may come into play during an ascent.
